The Manager will be responsible for overseeing a large portfolio of grants from foundation and corporate supporters. This includes managing all grant proposal submissions (proposals and reports), maintaining/cultivating ongoing relationships with these entities, managing detailed tracking systems, and generally growing our network of funders.

This role will help envision and execute new opportunities, and implement major organizational fundraising initiatives as they pertain to grants. This position will report to the Director of Development when that position is filled, and may help manage junior staff and/or fellows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a grants portfolio of diverse funding streams, ensuring that proposals, letters of inquiry, and mid-year and final reports are all submitted with input from relevant NYIC staff
  • Meticulously maintain strong data tracking systems, including detailed financial projections for all funds (committed and potential) and financial documentation for all committed funds (acknowledgement letters, financial trackers, document filing, database records, etc.)
  • Play a proactive role in soliciting information from multiple program areas as it pertains to grant writing and project development, and facilitate coordination between them
  • Ensure program staff are informed of all relevant deliverables, deadlines and other responsibilities as they pertain to grants
  • Represent the organization in meetings and events with funders, together with executive leadership
  • Support other fundraising and organizational initiatives as necessary.

Qualities Sought

  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience. Experience with grant writing and donor relations is a requirement; nonprofit financial management / budgeting experience is a strong asset.
  • Proven record of success with fundraising through foundation/corporate solicitations.
  • Knowledge of issues facing immigrants in New York is an advantage, as is familiarity with funders that support immigrant issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Good team player, comfortable taking initiative, and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, or another language is an asset.
  • Experience managing staff, fellows, or interns is an advantage.
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and juggle multiple tasks while meeting simultaneous deadlines.
