Position Overview
The Immigrant Services Training Associate will help plan and execute training programs on immigration law, immigration navigation, and other topics of interest to immigrant-led and immigrant-serving organizations.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Support logistical needs of training programs, including recruitment of speakers, curriculum development and review, space readiness, event staffing, and troubleshooting any challenges that may occur
  • Prepare training materials including slide decks and handouts
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with external vendors, trainers, and partners
  • Provide technical support at trainings, including managing livestreaming, webinars and audio-visual services
  • Manage training registration, including vetting of applicants for immigration legal trainings
  • Publicize trainings and conduct outreach to potential participants
  • Respond to inquiries about training program
  • Handle logistics of all reporting including numbers of individuals trained, billing, and detailed record keeping required for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits for attorneys
  • Work with Manager and operations staff to identify and implement technical tools to streamline record keeping processes
  • Work closely with staff in other NYIC programs on community outreach to publicize events and volunteer management
  • The associate may lead certain training presentations depending on skills, interest, and organizational needs.
 
Qualities Sought:
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience, ideally in training or with an immigrant-serving organization 
  • Passion for immigrant services and social justice and interest in immigration legal services and / or supporting immigrant service providers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; experience with training or public speaking is an asset
  • Tech savvy
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and task management skills
  • Customer service orientation when dealing with trainers and training participants
  • Good team player, comfortable taking initiative, and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances
  • Availability for occasional travel within New York State 
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Fluency in a another language highly encouraged.
