Position overview
The Manager of Immigrant Services Training will oversee the NYIC’s Immigrant Concerns Training Institute (ICTI), managing a robust calendar of training on immigration legal services throughout NY State as well as Immigration Navigator trainings and training on a variety of other topics including immigrant integration and communications.

Responsibilities include

  • Manage Immigrant Concerns Training Institute, which provides extensive training on immigration law and will expand to incorporate other trainings NYIC provides for our members on topics ranging from health access to education to communications
  • Conduct trainings on selected topics, and recruit qualified trainers to train on other subjects
  • Help develop curriculum for training Immigration Navigators, an exciting program for non-lawyers who are volunteers or staff of community-based organizations committed to supporting immigration legal service providers and to promoting immigrant rights
  • Work closely NYIC members and with staff in other NYIC programs to identify training needs and plan additional trainings
  • Manage project implementation including scope, fulfillment of grant deliverables, and project budgets, as well as compliance with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements for attorneys
  • Maintain relationships with a wide range of people providing immigrant services throughout NY State in order to conduct outreach to training participants and identify potential trainers
  • Handle logistics and provide excellent customer service to training participants
  • Supervise program associate, manage performance, guide professional development, and provide key feedback.

Qualities sought

  • At least 3-5 years of experience doing training, immigrant services, or related work with a community-based organization strongly preferred
  • Experience developing and conducting trainings a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of immigration law and legal services and / or challenges facing immigrant-serving organization is an asset
  • Experience supervising staff or interns is preferred
  • Fluency in a another language highly encouraged
  • Highly organized, strong interpersonal skills, and comfort with public speaking
  • Good team player, comfortable taking initiative, and able to adapt as necessary to changing circumstances
  • Passion for immigrant services and social justice
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks.
