ACTION ALERT: Tell Governor Cuomo He Must Protect Immigrant Communities
Governor Cuomo made a lot of promises to immigrant communities. In late January, in what seemed like a heartfelt speech, he even said “they are going to have to deport me first,” about immigrant communities under attack by the new administration. And yet, the Governor’s budget provides little funding for immigrant services, or for immigrant students.
Governor Cuomo has the opportunity RIGHT NOW to put his money where his mouth is and invest the resources necessary to protect and defend New York’s immigrant communities. But he won’t do it unless he hears from all of us demanding that he follow through on his promises to step up for New York’s immigrant and refugee residents.
CALL GOVERNOR CUOMO NOW: 518-474-8390
Immigrants across the State are currently living in extreme and uncertain times and need our Governor to stand up and protect them. I urge Governor Cuomo to:
- invest the full $15 million in his Liberty Defense Fund,
- to allow undocumented immigrants to access higher education by including them in his Excelsior Scholarship, and
- to support adults wanting to learn English or get better jobs by investing $17.2 million in Adult Literacy Education.
