Immigrant Housing Collaborative
Issue Highlights:
Immigrant Housing Collaborative
The Immigrant Housing Collaborative is a coalition of immigrant-based community organizations dedicated to articulating and advocating for the housing needs of New York’s immigrant communities. Working collaboratively, our goal is to effect policies that fundamentally improve the housing conditions of immigrants and all New Yorkers.
Members of the collaborative include Asian Americans for Equality, Chhaya CDC, MinKwon Center for Community Action, Mirabal Sisters Community and Cultural Center, and Woodside on the Move.
The collaborative works on the following campaigns:
- Improving city and state housing agency outreach to immigrant tenants and advocates;
- Enacting policies to create large- and small-scale affordable housing;
- Establishing an Accessory Dwelling Unit program to legally permit much-needed informal housing units; and
- Preserving and strengthening New York State’s rent-regulation system.
