Keeping Families Together: Max Ahmed shares his story

Check out this inspiring story of versatility from Max Ahmed who is on the Keeping Families Together Bus Tour en route to Washington D.C! Max is an NYIC DREAM Fellowship alumnus, who after being granted deferred action, started working with the NYIC's education program.

The Keeping Families Together bus tour is part of the New Yorkers for Real Immigration Reform campaign, a statewide campaign coordinated by the New York Immigration Coalition and endorsed by over 150 labor, faith, grassroots and immigrant organizations from across the state. The coalition is calling for an overhaul of the immigration system to meet the needs of the economy and keep families together.

One of the stops of the New York leg of the tour was Staten Island and here Max shared his story with faith and community leaders.

Today, the New Yorkers for Real Immigration Reform Campaign kicked off the bus tour with a rally and send off for 50 New York families heading to D.C. Find out more about the rally and some of the bus riders here. And follow our updates on the Keeping Families Together tour on our facebook and our twitter!
